Furniture - Part I

La-z-boy (lazy boy) recliner - La-z-boy is a famous brand of furniture. Their most famous item is the La-z-boy recliner. This is a very comfortable chair that “reclines” back so you can put your feet up on the foot rest. You will often hear people call this either a “Lazy Boy” or a recliner.” Other pictures here.

Examples:

“Don’t sit in my Lazy Boy. I am the only one allowed to sit in it.”
“She was sitting in an orange recliner drinking a Coke.”
“My grandfather had a red Lazy Boy that he used to sit in five hours per day.”


Ottoman - a footstool. In the picture above you see a white chair with a matching white ottoman. Other pictures here.

Examples:

“The cat was sitting quietly on the ottoman in front of the chair.”
“I put my coat on the ottoman.”


Chaise longue - a long reclining chair. Other pictures here.

Examples:

“She took a nap in the chaise longue.”
“The cat sat on the chaise longue.”
